Through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), foreign graduates from developing and newly industrialized nations can study for a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognized German university, or in exceptional cases, a doctorate, and earn a master’s or doctoral degree in Germany. The program is open to graduates from all disciplines with at least two years of professional experience.

In addition to contributions for health, accident, and personal liability insurance coverage and travel allowance, unless these costs are reimbursed by the home country or another source of funding, the scholarships include monthly payments of 934 euros for graduates and 1,300 euros for doctorate candidates.
The length of the scholarship is 42 months for a PhD and 12 to 24 months for a master’s degree, depending on the specific university.

Eligibility:
The average recipient of a scholarship:
• Currently works in a developing nation for a public authority, a state, or a private enterprise; as such, they design and carry out initiatives with a focus on development policies that affect the technological, economic, or social spheres.
• Has a Bachelor’s degree in a comparable field, typically requiring four years of study.
• At the time of application, has at least two years of relevant professional experience following the first degree (bachelor), and has finished an academic degree with significantly above average results (upper third).
• Generally speaking, his or her degrees shouldn’t be older than six years.
•For study courses in German (a six-month German language course is included in the scholarship): completion of the DSH 2 or (TestDaF 4 )language exam successfully prior to the start of the study session. As a result, applicants must have a minimum German language proficiency of B1 at the time of application, which must be verified with a certificate.
• For English language courses: Verification of sufficient language proficiency in accordance with the guidelines for the specific courses.
