The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship Program (GOI-IES) supports high-quality international students who wish to study at Masters or PhD level in Ireland [1]. The program is funded by the Irish government in partnership with Irish higher education institutions and is managed by the Higher Education Authority. As part of the initiative, 60 scholarships are awarded each year for one year of full-time study at master’s or doctoral level. The program is open to applicants studying in any field.

Merit – Merit scholarships are awarded primarily based on academic, athletic and/or extracurricular skills.

Financial Aid – Financial aid scholarships help with the financial costs of attending university, either through fees or associated living costs while a student.

Accommodation Aid – Accommodation Aid grants help students find and pay for accommodation during their studies.

External – External scholarships are hosted by a body other than DCU. They are often open to students attending a number of universities.

EDI – DCU is dedicated to fostering and promoting a culture of inclusion and belonging for all through our EDI Scholarships

Discount/Waiver – These scholarships provide a tuition discount and in some cases a full waiver.

  • DCU Merit Scholarships

 

DCU offers partial merit scholarships to some international students. When you apply to study at DCU as an international (non-EU) student, you are automatically considered for a scholarship. We will let you know if you are eligible for a scholarship when we contact you to advise you if your application to study at DCU has been successful.   • DCU Humanities and Social Sciences Scholarship

     

This merit-based scholarship is available to high-achieving non-EU applicants who have received an offer to study on a postgraduate program in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Successful recipients will receive a €2,000 discount on the 2024-2025 non-EU daily tuition fees for your postgraduate programme. All non-EU applications to a postgraduate program in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are automatically considered for this scholarship.   • International scholarship of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Technology

This scholarship is available to non-EU applicants who have received an offer to study on eligible postgraduate programs in the Faculty of Engineering and Computing. Successful
recipients will receive a fee reduction of €6,400 compared to the 2024-2025 non-EU full-time study fee.

Fees for their graduate program. Eligible programs for 2024-25 are:

DC814 – MEng Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering
DC836 – MSc in Computing
DC883 – MSc Electronic and Computer Engineering
DC896 – MSc Electronic and Computer Technology
All non-EU applications to the postgraduate program at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and
Computing is automatically considered for this scholarship.

Successful scholarship recipients will be notified by email.

Accredited Student Athlete Support (ASAS)

DCU has recently been awarded Sport Ireland’s full accreditation of their Student Athlete Support programme. This recognises best practice in the area of dual career athletes supports making combining elite sport and third level education extremely manageable to dual-career athletes.

Sport Scholarships were first introduced in DCU in 1996 in the form of GAA sport scholarships. Since then the programme has expanded greatly and students have been awarded sport scholarships in the following:

To apply for a CAO performance sport points concession and/or a sports scholarship, applicants must complete the online application form available here.

Note:

Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year programs open on February 1, 2024 and the deadline for receiving applications is May 1, 2024 at 5:15 p.m.
Applicants applying for the CAO points program must also apply to the DCU degree program through the CAO. Applicants should apply via the CAO by the normal closing date of 1 May or before the late closing date of 1 September and complete the DCU Performance Sport online application form.
Paper applications or late applications will not be accepted.
